Cerussite- new find, Ojuela
stock #ALEC-29-108
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
7.3 x 4.8 x 3.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $300
Post Tucson 2015

A delicate and complex Cerussite fro m the recent find at Mina Ojuela. These are glassy crystals associated with Pyrite that have inclusions that make part of the crystals opaque. There is some green to blue green inclusions and coatings as well so the overall look is dark. There are many crystal habits on this piece, some twinned, sixlings and untwinned prisms. Some damage exists but much less than on nearly all pieces in the find. The longest crystal is 3.1 CM, before this find Cerussite was very rare at Ojuela.
Mimetite -New find at classic locale
stock #17.1-AX-29-018
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
4.8 x 4.2 x 2.5 CM (miniature)
price: $325
Post Tucson 2015

From another small but exciting new find at the great Mina Ojuela, a well crystallized bright Mimetite. The orange red color is vibrant and the tiny crystals sparkle thoughout. No damage can be seen by naked eye, but a little is seen at 20 X magnification. The individual crystals are all transparent and gemmy. A nice addition to any Ojuela suite.
Zoisite (gem crystal from Pakistan)
stock #8.AE-870
Alchuri, Shigar Valley, Skardu District, Baltistan
Northern Areas, Pakistan
2.9 x 1 x .5 CM (miniature)
price: $240
pre Tucson 2015 update

A gem clear Zoisite crystal that is not at all like the usual from Tanzania. This is a nice small example with well defined striations and habit that is also distinct and shows dichroism. This came out over 10 years ago and since then we have not seen any. A minor chip is noted with magnification so this is not for the picky perfectionist, but it is a nice displayable gem crystal that is affordable. A rare example from an unusual locality.
Celestite with Calcite
stock #A7-025-220
Chittanango Falls, Fenner Township, Madison County
New York, United States
4.2 x 3.2 x 3.1 CM (miniature)
price: $300
pre Tucson 2015 update

A great example of the now rare Chittanago Falls NY Celestite. A classic location the hard Dolomite of this famed NY locale hides some excellent Celestite which are quite prized. Few are found now and most that do turn up are damaged or poorly exposed. This old piece is from the Larry White collection, it is pristine, esthetic and quite fine.
Fluorite with Phantoms
stock #17.1-AX- 20-157
Cave-in-Rock, Hardin County
Illinois, United States
8.2 x 6.7 x 4.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $700
pre Tucson 2015 update

Excellent form and sharp edged cubes typify this fine old Cave in Rock Fluorite. In excellent condition and with a nice contrasting matrix of tiny golden Sphalerites and white Calcites. Moderate backlighting makes this glow deep purple hues and the phantoms are very evident. Backside contacting is typical but the 3 dimensional presentation is much better than usual.
Azurite on Anglesite over Cerussite etc.
stock #17.1-AX-24-393
Tsumeb
Otjikoto Region, Namibia
3.5 x 2.1 x 2.9 CM (miniature)
price: $2500
pre Tucson 2015 update

An exceptional Tsumeb specimen that is both esthetic and really different. Ex. Sussmann Collection, this has the form of blocky Cerussite crystals that are fully encased in smaller Anglesite crystals. Some of the Anglesite shows inclusions and overgrowths of Malachite and Linarite. The Azurite crystals are the finishing touch and these are very fine, electric blue and with top luster. The whole displays very well, the color contrast is excellent and I have never seen this style presentation in any other Tsumeb piece.

Sa Ducessa Mine, Oridda, Carbonia-Iglesias Prov.
Sardinia, Italy

An odd yet attractive very old Sardinian Calcite specimen with a second generation of Quartz in "Cumberland Habit". The quartz also has numerous inclusion and some is in stacked groupings. There is considerable hematite on and in many crystals here adding nice color contrast. In good condition and attractive, most everything is doubly terminated.

A rare altered, hydrous variety of Zircon called Malacon, here in distinct crystals. The curved faces and the pearly luster are distinctive from the find a few years ago in Madagascar. No damage and viewable from all sides, a nice example.
