Wulfenite with Mimetite
stock #Alec 22-079
San Francisco Mine, Cucurpe
Sonora, Mexico
4.9 x 4.2 x 3.5 CM (miniature)
price: $1100
Spring 2014

Lots of display impact and color in outstanding condition. This has remarkable pristine condition, architecture and the composition is top notch. Classic San Francisco Mine Wulfenite with tiny orange balls of Mimetite and a big transparent "window" crystal on top. The larger crystals are gemmy yellow with deep orange phantoms near the centers caused by the Mimetite. Since these are notoriously delicate most show lots of damage but not on this piece, the main crystals are perfect and complete. Vintage about 1998, if ordering please select the more expensive shipping option which includes full insurance. This can be carefully packaged and shipped safely BUT If ordering from out of the USA be aware there is a high risk of damage if opened for customs inspection!
Quartz V. Amethyst with scepters
stock #Alec 24-122
Cerro de Concordia, Piedra Parada
Veracruz, Mexico
4.8 x 4.5 x 1.8 CM (miniature)
price: $240
Spring 2014

From the newest find at Cerro de Concordia, a pretty spray with distinct sceptering of the main crystal. Bright, colorful and undamaged with attractive form. There are some tiny orange flake-like inclusions as well.
Olmiite with Calcite
stock #14-14-260
N'chwaning Mine, Kalahari Fields, Kuruman
Kuruman, South Africa
9 x 6.8 x 6 CM (cabinet)
price: $1250
Spring 2014

A large and esthetic 3-D cluster of Olmiite in "wet look" aggregates with a pinkish color. Far better that the average, this is an even more special specimen due to the well placed clear clusters of Calcites in parallel growth. The calcite is in doubly terminated prisms that look very much like quartz and have similar glassy luster. Olmiite was unknown as a mineral until 2006, it is only found at this one location worldwide. This piece displays well, is undamaged and presents from several angles.
Scheelite on Quartz with Calcite, Cassiterite etc
stock #6.2-896
Yaogangxian Mine, Yizhang County
Hunan Province, China
7.8 x 6.3 x 3.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $440
Spring 2014

If you know or collect Yaogangian, you can see this is a VERY fine Scheelite multi-specie piece! In excellent undamaged condition, this is densely packed with bright, lustrous and transparent/translucent Scheelites with honey brown color. This quality and esthetic is a rare for the locality. We selected this piece at the mine in 2006. There is nothing like this on the market now. Yaogangxian is the most famous and significant locality in China for collectors. Good Scheelite was always rare from there, this one is exceptional and the mine is now closed.
Malachite psudo after Azurite (huge crystal)
stock #Alec3-408
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Municipio de Santa Cruz
Sonora, Mexico
8.5 x 5.7 x 3.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $1180
Spring 2014

An extremely large (over 3-1/2 inches) single compound crystal of Azurite is partly altered to a silky green Malachite, yet still has large areas of deep blue. Somewhat blocky and crude but with strong and clear form this is an impressive piece and one of the largest single crystal psudos that have come from this prolific location. Esthetic and with strong display presence, this was mined in 2011. A very good value.
Andradite with Calcite
stock #Alec-14-385
N'chwaning Mine, Kalahari Fields, Kuruman
Northern Cape Province, South Africa
2.8 x 2.5 x 1.4 CM (thumbnail)
price: $330
Spring 2014

An unusually good, sizable crystal aggregate of Kalihari Andradite Garnet. The great NChwaning mine is famous for its red colored minerals, especially the Rhodochrosites. Many other less colorful species from here are dusted with tiny bright red Andradites, typically micro crystals. This piece shows well formed distinct and colorful crystals very sizable not like what is usually seen. In excellent condition.
Realgar in and on Calcite
stock #4.2-107.1
Shimen (Jiepiayu) Mine, Shimen County, Changde Prefecture
Hunan Province, China
7 x 5.5 x 4.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $145
Spring 2014

A very attractive bright specimen that has become sort of a modern classic from the Realgar mine at Shimen. The calcite is milky white to clear yellow and glassy, while the Realgar is brilliant red. This is clearly seen inside the Calcites and extending to the surface in sharp form. In good condition with some bruising that is not distracting, specimen like this one are a great value for building collections with attractive pieces that are fine yet affordable.
Cerussite (gemmy V twins)
stock #Alec 12-072
Tsumeb
Otavi-Bergland district, Oshikoto, Namibia
5.2 x 4 x 2.1 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $540
Spring 2014

Tsumeb Cerussite can be incredible, but its usually very damaged or crazy expensive. This is a far better than average piece (but not perfect with inspection) with glassy luster, elegant striations, and is formed by 2 "V" twins that abut each other. The main large crystals are in good undamaged condition, there is chipping on the bottom and end of the small crystals that is seen. The chipping is not glaring, only noted if you look carefully. The clarity is gem grade and very sharp, with a warm smokey color. Not perfect, but not 8,000.00$ either!
