Rhodonite (Blocky crystals with minor Franklinite, Calcite)
stock #13.1-041
Franklin Mine, Franklin Mining District, Sussex County
New Jersey, United States
4.6 X 3.8 X 3.1 CM (miniature)
price: $380
Spring 2014

A cluster of five main Rhodonite crystals up to 3.3 CM in size are arranged in an attractive cluster. This is an American classic that has become quite scarce on the market in recent years. The condition is excellent and like most of these had some acid etching to expose the Rhodonite well. The color is well above average and this piece is very 3 dimensional.
Grossular on Diopside
stock #Alec-24-169
Mt Belvidere Quarry (EDEN MILLS) VAG, Lowell and Eden, Orleans and Lamo
Vermont, United States
3.6 x 2.9 x 2.1 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $950
Spring 2014

Some of the worlds best red Grossular has come from the classic quarries of Eden Mills. Now very hard to find in any quality, this is an attractive small specimen in excellent condition with lustrous, gemmy red brown crystals. The grass green matrix of crystallized Diopside makes a fine contrast for the Garnets and this really displays well. This could also be trimmed to make a fine competitive thumbnail if desired.
Cuprite on Plancheite, Chrysocolla and Malachite
stock #Alec 11-048
Mupine Mine, Kolowezi District
Katanga (Shaba), Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire)
4.8 x 3.2 CM (miniature)
price: $850
Spring 2014

A very fine, sharp and esthetic specimen! These Cuprites came out over 20 years ago, there have really been none since. Unlike any of the more recent Russian Cuprites, these Congo Piees are now classics. Most were damaged or at least chipped, so pristine pieces were rare then and unavailable now. This one is especially elegant, it has a sharp and sizable main crystal perched perfectly on the contrasting matrix. In exceptional condition. This was not photographed with a backlight, so it looks as it would in a normal display, HOWEVER these are a rich ruby red color with careful lighting. Better in person!
Amethyst Scepters
stock #13.1-267
Little Giant Basin, San Juan County
Colorado, United States
6 x 4.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $550
Spring 2014

A very nicely formed piece with light purple tips all arranged in a row. This came from an older collection with labels stating (unbelivably) it is from Creede District, Colorado. Checking this with Colorado specialists confirms that this is actually a fine Little Giant Basin piece from San Juan County, Colorado. Overall in great shape, only slicht chips noted with a careful exam and not easily seen on display. Most of these scepters were found as separated singles, such clusters are rare.
Torbernite (complex crystal aggregates)
stock #A7-038-1339
Les Bois-Noirs, Loire
Rhone-Alpes, France
4.1 x 2.9 CM (miniature)
price: $350
Spring 2014

Brilliant bright Green crystals of several habits densely cluster on the top and sides of this matrix. From the Larry White collection, this is an older piece and in pristine condition. Not just a "locality" specimen, this is very esthetic and not often available.
Adamite (manganoan)
stock #10.1-175
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
3.4 x 3.1 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $340
Spring 2014

The worlds best Adamites have come from Mina Ojuela, there have been so many that it is hard to find specimens that stand out. This is a very esthetic "toenail" sided piece with multi-color crystals, glassy luster and in fine condition. The mix of the yellowish, pink and purple hues in the crystals helps make this a very nice display piece. The largest crystal is 1.8 CM tall which is quite sizable for the specie.
Cinnabar (twinned crystals on Quartz and Calcite)
stock #6.2-640
Yanwuping Mine, Wanshan, Tongren
Guizhou, China
5.3 x 3.8 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $290
Spring 2014

A textbook example of twinning is well displayed on this unusually attractive specimen. The matrix is also unusual and contrast well with the Cinnabar. This comes from a small, little known mine in the Tongren area of Guizoh Province. Just 30 years ago such specimens were only known in the West from collections built well before 1909, they were legendary and unavailable. Even today with excellent sources this quality is far better than what is normally on the market. Far better in person.
Arsenopyrite with Hedenbergite and Lollingite
stock #Alec-14-312
Huanggang Mine, Chifeng Prefecture, Hexigten Banner, Ulanhead League
Inner Mongolia Region, China
6.2 x 2.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $575
Spring 2014

Simply a very esthetic and bright shiny Arsenopyrite with first rate presentation. EX Irv Brown Collection. Good Huanggang minerals are now the most sought after Chinese specimens and this is a particularly well composed piece in excellent condition. Displays well from all angles.
