Smithsonite (very fine large crystal)
stock #ALEC-5-042
Otjikoto Region, Namibia
6.4 x 6 CM (cabinet)
price: $700

A Tsumeb classic, a Galena matrix hosts fine sharp Smithsonite crystals up to 3 CM in size. The color is between a salmon pink and a light cognac hue depending on the lighting used to view it. The largest crystal has a cleave on the right rear edge that keeps this very affordable. Fortunately it can be hidden completely by the angle of display and the specimen looks like it cost many times this price!
Cuprian Adamite with Wulfenite, Ferrilotharmeyerite
stock #ALEC-5-044
Otjikoto Region, Namibia
4.4 x 3.5 CM (miniature)
price: $750

Far above average quality! A fine, bright Tsumeb miniature that is well crystallized and host loads of associated micro crystals. A few of the Cuprian Adamites are in the process of psudomorphing and being replaced by unknown minerals. Great color, sharpness and in perfect condition. These Adamites reach over 1 CM and cover the specimen densely.
Fluorite (pink octahedral) on Quartz and Calcite with Diopside, Lollingite etc.
stock #ALEC-5-035
Huanggang Mine, Chifeng Prefecture, Hexigten Banner, Ulanhead League
Inner Mongolia Region, China
7.8 x 5.6 CM (cabinet)
price: $825

The most exciting thing from recent finds in inner Mongolia is the rare Pink Fluorites with classic Alpine style that until now were only seen in Western Europe. The associates are similar to Alpine cleft minerals too, these have been quite uncommon so far and unfortunately often very expensive. This is a great example, the largest Fluorite is sharp, to 2.3 CM in size and perched on a contrasting mass of greenish quartz and associates. The Fluorites are in fine condition, a close look at the quartz crystals on the matrix finds some broken tips that are clearly not a distraction on this specimen. This is a tiny fraction of the price for an European example.
stock #Alec-3-165
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Municipio de Santa Cruz
Sonora, Mexico
4.4 x 4.3 CM (miniature)
price: $375

A big, bright Azurite single crystal with the "Milpillas" habit that shows excellent color. There is chipping on some edges, which keeps this priced very low for such a large and flashy crystal. Much better in person.
Spessartine on Quartz
stock #10.1-306
Tongbei, Yunxiao County, Zhangzhou Prefecture
Fujian, China
9.3 x 7.6 CM (cabinet)
price: $1850

The great Spessartine from Tongbei has proven to be one of the most prolific finds for the past decade. However it is hard to find a REALLY great example. This is an outstanding, superb piece! A large main (9.3 CM tall) quartz and a smaller side crystal have the prism faces completely jacketed in brilliant sparkling garnet. The terminations are however uncovered and these are also overgrown with epitaxial quartz growths. Sharp with brilliant color, gemmy spessartine striking esthetics and undamaged. From a singular 2009 find, this is far beyond the quality of 99.9% and a top display specimen!
Fluorite (ice-like octahedron, on Quartz and Arsenopyrite
stock #ALEC-5-032
Huanggang Mine, Chifeng Prefecture, Hexigten Banner, Ulanhead League
Inner Mongolia Region, China
7 x 5.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $850

A super esthetic, fine Fluorite from the exciting new finds in Inner Mongolia. Rare quality and in perfect undamaged condition, the main Fluorite is 4.2 CM across and the matrix can be seen through the clear crystal. The quartz is also gemmy, in some cases sceptered with unknown green inclusions. As good as I have seen so far from this zone, and a great value.
Azurite (Brilliant elecric color and luster)
stock #ALEC- 3-025
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Municipio de Santa Cruz
Sonora, Mexico
6x 4 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $2000

It may be difficult to really see this piece in photos, but it is an exceptional, bright top luster Azurite from Milpillas. Very difficult to photograph such bright faces so this is FAR better in person. These Azurites are modern classics and those with the sought after "electric blue" are so intense they are real world class display pieces. Display well from each side, individual crystals reach 3 CM and present complex, sculptural forms. This specimen was obtained as part of a large lot in late 2011. These are from the last mining, they will be regarded as great values in the future!
Shattuckite and Malachite (primany crystals)
stock #ALEC-4-232
Kaokoveld Plateau
Kunene Region, Namibia
7.1 x 5 CM (cabinet)
price: $2750

A REALLY fine Shattuckite specimen, far better in person than can be seen on a computer! Malachite in primary accicular crystals sprout from the center of a deep blue Shattuckite vug that is formed of radiating fibers. No damage, better specimens (like this) from the Kaokoveld are simply the best ever found for the species. We are told the zone is finished and there are no more to be had. this quality is now getting much harder to find and very costly. Priced WAY below market for this quality!
