Elbaite
stock #AX-30-022
Jonas Mine, Itatiaia District, Conselheiro, Doce Valley
Minas Gerais, Brazil
4.6 x 1.2 x 1.6 CM (miniature)
price: $2600
pre Tucson 2015 update

Jonas Tourmaline is one of the most sought after gem crystal specimens and usually very expensive. This is a richly colored Elbaite, a little different from most Jonas pieces, it looks quite similar to some Cruzieros. This was part of a small suite of verified Jonas specimens and was unique in the parcel. The color at the termination end is deep intense red as would be expected, but the zoning is much rarer. The clarity is gem grade and the small side crystal is a nice esthetic addition. No damage at all, there is a contact one one side face that is not seen from any logical display angle. A fine, classic locale tourmaline with top color and quality.

Wulfenite w. Calcite & Mimetite
stock #AX-31-101
Ahmad Abad Mine
Yazd Province, Iran
4.6 x 3.5 x 3.3 CM (miniature)
price: $400
pre Tucson 2015 update

Small but brightly colored, delicate and quite esthetic, this is a complex and interesting Iranian specimen. From small scale collecting at this long abandoned mine, this has a great display look for its small size. Nestled on several of the Wulfenites are micro gemmy bright red crystals that have were originally thought to be Mimetites but some analysis have shown up as Fornacite.

Wulfenite w. Calcite & Plattnerite
stock #AX-31-094
Ahmad Abad Mine
Yazd Province, Iran
4.8 x 4.9 x 3 CM (miniature)
price: $600
pre Tucson 2015 update

A very complex Iranian specimen, a delicate structure of thin, translucent bladed Wulfenites are decorated with tiny calcite scalenohedrons and black acicular Plattnerites. An interesting and showy esthetic, this is in remarkably pristine condition for such delicacy. From small scale collecting at this old abandoned mine.

Wulfenite w. Calcite
stock #AX-31-096
Ahmad Abad Mine
Yazd Province, Iran
5.9 x 3.5 x 2.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $880
pre Tucson 2015 update

A very different style and look for a Wulfenite specimen. One of the most exciting habits to come from the new finds at Ahmad Abad are the Wulfenites partly encased in calcite. The stepped forms and geometric structures make an esthetic and sculptural specimen. In excellent condition with just some very minor chipping that is not seen on display. An exotic location and a great addition to any Wulfenite collection.

Vesuvianite
stock #17.1-494
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos (now Val-des-Sources, Estrie,
Quebec, Canada
6 x 4 x 2.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $975
pre Tucson 2015 update

A glassy luster yellow-green cluster of sharp and partly gemmy Vesuvianites. The overall arrangement and esthetics are very attractive, this really displays well. Most of the crystals are sharply terminated and damage free, but a few show re-crystallization on old broken surfaces, this can look like damage on a quick glance but it is not. Were it not for the recrystallized zones this would be a far more expensive specimen. Avery good value for the size, color and esthetics.

Carbonate-Apatite - var. Dahllite
stock #15.1-055
Little Mountain District, Big Horn County
Wyoming, United States
3.5 x 3.2 x 2 CM (miniature)
price: $50
pre Tucson 2015 update

An oddity in the Apatite family, this form of Carbonate rich apatite is not seen very often. This specimen is well over 30 years old from a small find, it shows well the structure and form, it is a bit similar (with some notable differences) to Ukrainian nodules. Rare and in fine condition.

Azurite
stock #14.1-051
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Municipio de Santa Cruz
Sonora, Mexico
6.4 x 5.6 x 2.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $300
pre Tucson 2015 update

The Milpillas Mine finds are now justly famed as the greatest and largest Azurite discovery ever made. There were many habits, some from just a single small pocket. This specimen is a type that was not common, well-formed euhedral crystals scattered on a contrasting matrix. Super bright luster, sharp and partly gemmy these are is excellent condition too.

Adamite
stock #AX-29-113
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
8.2 x 5.2 x 4.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $700
pre Tucson 2015 update

An eye popping Adamite composed mostly of "pinwheel" habit crystal aggregates on contrasting matrix. Fine luster and in excellent condition damage-wise, this has good esthetic and colorful presentation. The matrix is a mix of botryoidal Goethite and tiny Adamite crystals. The red color on some pinwheels seems to be from Fe oxides on and in the green and yellowish Adamites. Better Ojuela Adamites (which are the best in the world) have gotten quite hard to get at a reasonable price, this one is far better than average and a very good value.
