An exceptionally fine galena that was mined when Silesia was part of Germany. This locality is best known for Schalenblende specimens but few good Galenas are seen from these old mines. This one is the best I know of in any collection. Crystals reach 2.5 CM and are mostly very modified Octahedra. In excellent condition, with a great patina and presentation. A well traveled piece, six earlier labels and a catalog card document some of the long provenance. Previously in the collections of John Marshall, M. Chervet, F.W. Cassierer, A. Carion and others.
