Amethyst scepters
stock #17.1-083
Washington Camp, Patagonia Mts, Santa Cruz County
Arizona, United States
6.2 x 3.6 x 2.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $330
new year 2021

A very nice Arizona Amethyst from Washington Camp. Formerly in the Koster Collection. The milky Quartz shafts have a tapering before the purple scepter tops formed and those tips are slightly offset. This makes an unusual form that reminds me of candle flames. In fine condition and displaying well from several angles, a very good example of a classic USA scepter cluster.

Amethyst
stock #7.AE-267
Piedra Parada, Las Vigas
Veracruz, Mexico
7.8 x 4 x 3.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $450
new year 2021

A sizable, slightly bulging Amethyst crystal on matrix from Veracruz. The habit looks very much like Namibian Quartz but this is from the famed finds at Las Vigas, and is a bit unusual for the locale. In fine condition, no damage at all and filled with internal bubbles, the termination is transparent and slightly zoned. An older specimen that is unlike any of the recent finds and displays very well, better in person.

Amethyst - Grape Chalcedony/Agate
stock #17.1-285
Manakarra, Mumuju area, Sulawesi Barat Province
Sulawesi Island, Indonesia
6.3 x 5.7 x 2.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $180
new year 2021

One of the most exciting and attractive finds of the past few years were these "Grape Agates" or Chalcedony spheres from Sulawesi. Now more correctly called botryoidal Amethyst, this material is unique in the mineral world and can be incredibly attractive. This is a select piece, well-formed on all sides with the desirable bicolor (green and purple) areas. The color on this piece is a good deep grape purple and the "front" is also covered with drusy Quartz that adds the most desired sparkling luster. In fine condition as seen, better specimens from this find are among the best values on the mineral market today, however recent mining has not been producing much of the higher quality.

Amethyst scepter - older Korean
stock #19.1-802
Eonyang
South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea
3.1 x 2.3 x 1.8 (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $150
new year 2021

Zoned Amethyst scepter with a darker purple tip. The shaft is partly hidden from some angles but it is a darker smoky Quartz. From Eonyang in South Korea, Ex John Buckley collection which he had obtained from Pat Barker who once had spent some years living in and collecting the minerals of Korea. Minor chipping is noted that is almost impossible to see without magnification, This is in much better condition than typical. Just a hair too large to be a thumbnail, but could be trimmed to meet the standard if desired.

Amethyst
stock #12.1-097
Karur
Tamil Nadu, India
6.4 x 5.2 x 4.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $200
new year 2021

Deep vivid purple Amethyst in a flower form which is much more rounded or ball like than we usually see. From the amazing finds at Tamil Nadu, the Amethysts contrasts well with the matrix which includes several clusters of small Calcite crystals. The Calcite is fluorescent as well. No damage, and very three dimensional.

Amethyst
stock #AX-24-388
Piedra Parada, Las Vigas
Veracruz, Mexico
6.7 x 4.2 x 3.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $440
new year 2021

Lots of good Amethyst has been found from time to time over the past decades in Vera Cruz, Mexico. This piece is far better than most of this size with the most desirable white matrix and perfectly zoned crystals. In undamaged condition, the specimen is much better in person, the glassy faces and color are hard to capture in photos. We selected this piece and a few others from the finds of 2016 when they first arrived in the USA.

Citrine and Amethyst with Rutile inclusions
stock #14.1-199
Karur
Tamil Nadu, India
7 x 5.6 x 3.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $370
new year 2021

Sparkling clusters of very clear crystals of Quartz in aligned groups that also have very small needle inclusions of red Rutile. This is from the remarkable deposits of Amethyst at Tamil Nadu (India), that are unique in the world. A few crystals also have sharp hexagonal voids replacing the point of the termination (negative termination). Unusual and attractive, better in person and in fine condition too.

Chalcedony / Amethyst
stock #20.1-277
Mamuju area, Sulawesi Barat province
Sulawesi Island, Indonesia
3 x 2.2 x 1.7 CM ()
price: $120

Highly esthetic and in fine condition from the incredible find at Mamuju, Sulawesi (Indonesia). This important discovery yielded some large and impressive pieces, but very fine thumbnails like this were much less common. This is a colorful and high impact small piece that is an elegant sculpture. From one of the best modern mineral discoveries.
