Amethyst scepter
stock #AX-12-008
Simeone Quarry, Wrentham
Massachusetts, United States
4 x 3.2 x 2 CM (miniature)
price: $220
pre Tucson 2015 update

A small but well defined Massachusetts Amethyst in scepters and parallel growths. Sharp with good clarity and subdued zoned color, this is for its size a very fine specimen from this locale. A fair sized contact on the edge back is not seen when mounted for display. All of the three top tips are perfectly undamaged even at 30X magnification. Very few were found in this condition.

Amethyst - zoned crystals
stock #13.1-129
Amatitlan, Municipio de Zumpango del Rio
Guerrero, Mexico
4.1 x 2.1 x 1.9 CM (miniature)
price: $285
pre Tucson 2015 update

An attractive miniature showing the distinctive habit of Guerrero Amethyst. This shows both the classic esthetic arrangement and shape of crystals with the zoning that sets these apart from all other Amethyst. In good condition, there is some chipping to be found with magnification so this is not for the perfectionist. Far better than average and much more affordable than larger pieces. Vintage about 1955.

Amethyst with Apophyllite and Hubeite
stock #7.AE-545
Fengjiashan Mine (Daye Mine), Daye County, Huangshi Pref.
Hubei Province, China
7.3 x 3.4 x 4.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $175

A very neat, clean and colorful example of this find from about 8 years ago at Fengjiashan. In fine condition the Amethyst shows multiple growth steps and has excellent transparency and luster. The tabular Apophyllite covering 3 faces has nice crystals to 1.5 CM and a dusting of micro minerals including Hubeite.

Amethyst phantom (Brandberg)
stock #AX-4-157
Goboboseb Mts., Brandberg area,
Erongo Region, Namibia
7.5 x 1.9 CM (cabinet)
price: $175
Spring 2013

Sharp, lustrous beautiful Amethyst phantom. Some minor Lepidocrocite, the Quartz is especially sharp and clear. A very affordable, fine Brandberg from the Goboboseb.

Amethyst (gem clear phantom) with Prehnite and Lepidochrosite
stock #AX-4-267
Goboboseb Mts., Brandberg area,
Erongo Region, Namibia
10 x 6.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $1450

A superb example of a very fine phantom quartz from this classic location. Pristine, damage free and optically clear main crystal (6 CM tall) is decorated with light green Prehnite balls and holds elegant, wispy phantoms. From every angle this displays well, but my personal favorite is looking straight down from the top (the C axis. The matrix block is sawn on the underside and on some edges, so it sits perfectly on its own. These are often collected using diamond saws to avoid damage. It is possible to further trim the specimen to remove all traces of the sawing, but for me it is fine as is. If you like good quartz, you will love this specimen!

Amethyst
stock #13.1-060
Irai, Alto Urugual region
Rio Grande do Sul, South Region, Brazil
8.1 x 6.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $250

Simply a very esthetic and unusually well formed piece. The "flower" is 7 cm in diameter and the individual "petals" reach 3.8 CM. The color is a gradation from light to dark purple and the whole sits neatly on a quartz matrix. Excellent condition and showy. Irai has been a very prolific location so good specimens can still be found for a reasonable sum. This is well above average for quality and a very good value.

Amethyst
stock #8.AE-683
Piedra Parada, Las Vigas
Veracruz, Mexico
11.4 x 6.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $450

A very showy and rich plate covered with fine Quartz with deep gemmy purple tips. Super luster and no damage except on the periphery which is not visible at all from normal display angles. Individual crystals reach 3.8 CM and the quality is excellent for the locality.
