Calcite
stock #6.2-057
Shimen (Jiepiayu) Mine, Shimen County, Changde Prefecture
Hunan Province, China
9 x 5.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $375

A single sharp, gemmy Calcite crystal that has a light amber color and is in outstanding condition. Great form and luster, the clarity at the tip is very good. Shimen has produced some very fine Calcites, among the world's best they are still a bargain compared with most other locations.

Cinnabar on Dolomite
stock #6.2-053
Chatian Mine, Fenghuang
Hunan Province, China
7.2x4x6 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $400

A sawn matrix block shows an open vug with several forms of cinnabar crystals, some are gemmy and very sharp reaching 1 cm. Some damage to crystals at the edge of the pocket but not excessive. This relatively dense coverage (there are about 10 crystals here) is not common and the best crystals here are very good indeed.

Calcite with minor Realgar
stock #6.2-064
Shimen (Jiepiayu) Mine, Shimen County, Changde Prefecture
Hunan Province, China
14.5 x 13.5 x 11 CM (cabinet)
price: $485

A substantial cluster of fine Calcites in very good condition and with great translucence and some transparency. The largest crystal is 13 CM and the color is a light yellow to amber ranging to white. A good sized cabinet piece this has several possible display sides.

Mimetite on Gossan matrix
stock #5.1-158
Pingtouling Mine, Liannan, Sanjiang
Guangdong Province, China
5.9 x 3.8 (miniature)
price: $300

Sharp crystals with good color on a very delicate gossan matrix. A very good example from this important location which like many others is no longer producing any quality materials. Very reasonable price for a very good miniature!

Calcite with minor Realgar
stock #5.1-083
Shimen (Jiepiayu) Mine, Shimen County, Changde Prefecture
Hunan Province, China
17x13 cm (cabinet)
price: $1200

A perfect condition large (11.5 cm) twin calcite sits esthetically on top of a mound of smaller calcites and intermingled tiny realgar crystals. All on a calcite matrix, a great example of the best quality from this find, the smaller crystals have distinctive realgar phantoms. A very attractive large cabinet piece!

Calcite with realgar
stock #5.1-085
Shimen (Jiepiayu) Mine, Shimen County, Changde Prefecture
Hunan Province, China
10 x 7.4 cm (cabinet)
price: $450

A delicate, thin, tapering (7.9 CM) single calcite rises above the smaller crystals. Gemmy in places and clear enough to clearly show the bright red Realgar crystals inside. A very tiny flaw at the tip is only visible from one side. Even so, this is a top display calcite at a reasonable price.

Cerussite -Two generations
stock #7AE-418
Daoping Mine, Gongcheng County, Guilin Prefecture
Guangxi Province, China
9.8 x 8.2 x 4.6 CM (cabinet)
price: $1150
Spring 23

Large and very well crystallized plate of Cerussite crystals that are both yellow and green colors. From an impressive find at the Daoping mine (China) in 2003. The yellow color has been referred to as Chrome Cerussite and the green as Cuprian. It is not certain if this is in fact true at this locality, but no matter which elements are causing the color the crystal are undoubtably beautiful. The condition is exceptional, all the main crystals are perfect without damage, this is remarkable due to the fragility of Cerussite and the exposure of the prisms. The largest crystal is 1.7 CM. The larger crystals are translucent yellow and the smaller earlier generation are green to blue green. A modern classic, this quality is just not available anymore.
