Anglesite on Galena
stock #16.1-370
Broken Hill, Yancowinna County
New South Wales, Australia
7.3 x 5.9 x 3.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $180
Pre Tucson

Several well-formed Anglesite crystals are scattered on a nearly pure Galena matrix. From the famed Broken Hill Mines, the Anglesites are milky white, undamaged and well-exposed. These show the blocky habit well and reach up to 1 CM though 5-7 MM is average.

Anglesite - very fine Broken Hill tower cluster
stock #19.1-503
Broken Hill, Yancowinna County
New South Wales, Australia
4.6 x 3.7 x 3 CM (miniature)
price: $850
Pre Tucson

A superb minature that displays well 360 degrees. Ex Phil Scalise collection, this is in impeccable, undamaged condition. The tree-like tower of white to colorless Anglesites shows several crystal forms but all are lustrous and sharp. Exceptional quality for this locality and really nice Angesite from anyplace for that matter. This is an older specimen though the exact vintage is uncertain. This sort of cluster is rare and unknown from other localities. A great addition to any Lead secondary collection or for those who appreciate esthetic mineral oddities. A hefty specimen of Lead Sulphate, this miniature weighs 72 grams.

Cerussite - stacked sixling twins
stock #19.1-105
Broken Hill, Yancowinna County
New South Wales, Australia
7.3 x 5.3 x 4.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $2400
Early summer 2023

An elegant stack of sixling twinned Cerussites from the classic Broken Hill Mine (Australia). The stack, when viewed from the ends, looks like a typical six-ray star form Cerussite, but when seen on the side is a stack of many connected twins in an aligned cluster. In remarkable condition for this delicate mineral, there is no damage seen by naked eye. This is another modern classic locale although it dates back to 1885, it was until recently one of the major Lead mines in the world. This specimen is fairly old and unusual as the delicate reticulation is very well defined and far more lustrous than most. A super Cerussite from Broken Hill and about as fine as can be found outside museums.

Bromian Chlorargyrite (Embolite)
stock #0591-JM-3253
Broken Hill, Yancowinna County
New South Wales, Australia
7.5 x 5.2 x 3 CM (cabinet)
price: $1500
Fall 22

A fine and super well-crystalized cabinet specimen of this rare Silver Halide. Ex. John Marshall collection, from the famed Broken Hill of Australia which produced the very best of these long ago. This has greenish to yellow waxy crystals standing on massive matrix. Some epitaxial clustering and hoppered stacking of the crystals (see the last photo) is unusual and distinctive. A hefty specimen in hand, the crystals are also unusually large for the specie. John obtained this from Ernie Schlichter in 1994, labels and collection card are included. Formerly known as Embolite, this is certainly a very old piece, these were found from the early 1900's to about 1940. Super rich and rarely available in this size and quality.

Pyromorphite
stock #21.1-482
Broken Hill, Yancowinna County
New South Wales, Australia
4.2 x 3.2 x 2.1 CM (miniature)
price: $280
Post Tucson 2022

Brilliant yellow crystals cover the display face of a dark contrasting Coronadite matrix. The crystals are lustrous and on close exam, very gemmy. In fine condition for such slender, delicate prisms. A choice and colorful example from this classic locality.

Pyromorphite with Stolzite
stock #21.1-275
Broken Hill, Yancowinna County
New South Wales, Australia
5.8 x 4.3 x 3.6 CM (cabinet)
price: $425
Late Summer 2021

A rich, classic Pyromorphite specimen with several areas of orange Stolzites in tiny crystals. There are two generations of light and darker brown Pyro crystals reaching over 3 CM, all are quite glassy. As can be seen there are a number of broken crystals though several are complete. The Pyromorphites are in a jumbled mix resting on a small zone of matrix where the Stolzites are located. The Stolzite and some of the lighter Pyromorphite are fluorescent in long to mid range UV. The damage on this piece keeps it from being far more costly, but it is still an attractive Australian Pyro, the damage can be minimized by display angle. Nearly every Broken Hill piece we have handled has had at least some tip damage on close inspection, it seems they grew in small voids where extraction was difficult due to contact with the pocket walls. These crystals are all transparent to translucent with bright luster. This still looks quite nice but not for perfectionists. However with the Stolzites added this is a rare and desirable association.

Bustamite, Calcite, Sphalerite, Chalcopyrite etc.
stock #13.1-283
Broken Hill, Yancowinna County
New South Wales, Australia
2.1 x 1.8 x 1.3 CM (thumbnail)
price: $90
new year 2021

A cute thumbnail with the focus being one larger crystal of Bustamite. The specimen also includes some very tiny Spessartine as well as the Sulphides listed above. The Bustamite has the typical crude or melted look on some edges but is distinctly terminated and well-defined. Broken Hill is a famed locality that is on every short list of world class deposits and is certainly a classic.

Pyromorphite
stock #8.AE-1059
Broken Hill, Yancowinna County
New South Wales, Australia
7.3 x 6.1 x 2.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $330
new year 2021

Bright yellow-green crystals of Pyromorphite on a contrasting manganese oxide matrix. In excellent condition overall, the previous label calls the matrix Galena, but this is incorrect. Broken Hill is perhaps the most famed, classic Australian mineral locale. Many types of Pyromorphite have been found there over many years, most being a distinctive brown or white color. The yellow, and especially the green colors, are more rare and sought after.
