Fluorite- stepped Cubo-Octahedral with Pyrite etc.
stock #AX-12-329
Kara-Oba W Deposit, Betpakdala Desert
Karaganda Region, Kazakhstan
6.3 x 4.2 x 4.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $1450
new june 17

Super form showing epitaxial arrangements and a textbook structure in this esthetic Kazak Fluorite. Impressive and quite unlike any other sort of Fluorite from anywhere in the world. The main crystal is 4.8 CM across well perched at the top of a mixes mineral matrix. In excellent condition overall as seen though some cleaves are present with some crystal regrowth over those spots. Way better in person, this is a choice example from a find more than 2 decades ago and no longer seen on the market.

Serandite with Aegerine etc.
stock #AX-16-477
Mont Saint-Hilaire, Monteregie
Quebec, Canada
5.8 x 3.8 x 3.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $550

Unusual habit with brilliant red-orange color and many gemmy crystals forming a very attractive Serandite from the great Mt St Hillaire. The largest crystal is 2.5 CM across and is a blocky style, but the smaller crystals show many different habits and terminations. Some of these are Bipyramids or have complex parallel prisms and multiple stepped terminations. The luster is excellent, the condition is overall quite fine there is a break on backside where removed and a few very small wilbers noted on minor crystals only seen with 10X magnification. Classic locale and specie, attractive and unusual.

Amethyst- flower form
stock #AX-24-412
Karur
Tamil Nadu, India
8.4 x 6.4 x 3 CM (cabinet)
price: $950
new june 17

Bright luster, rich color and with very fine esthetics, this is a choice Amethyst flower from Karur. This form of Quartz is known from just a few locations (Brazil etc) but by far the best color, clarity and sharpest habits are from Tamil Nadu in Karur, India. This locality produces small numbers of specimens in a good year, some years there are almost none. This is far better than average, better in person. Close examination shows most crystals are thickly included with golden needles, much like Rutile but usually identified as Lepidocrocite.

Fluorite on Quartz and Calcite, Ex. Szenics collection
stock #AX-27-231
Shangbao Pyrite Mine, Leiyang
Hunan Province, China
10.2 x 7.8 x 7.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $1400
new june 17

The ball like stepped cubo-octahedral Fluorites from Shangbao have become highly desirable and often quite expensive. This is an excellent and unusal specimen with fine display surfaces on front and back, almost a perfect floater. The individual Fluorites reach 2.7 CM and are a little deeper green than seen in the photos. In the square central windows of the crystals the interiors can be clearly seen as mostly glass clear, gemmy. Distinctive specimen from the finds vintage 2005, ex Terry Szenics collection. Very three dimensional and far better in person, this came from a short period when these could be obtained, prior and later specimens are quite different and to my eye not nearly as unique.

Corundum V. Ruby in Schist
stock #AX-12-268
Zazatotsy Quarry, Ihosy District, Horombe Region
Fianarantsoa, Madagascar
6.8 x 3.4 x 4.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $730
new june 17

A big and sharp (2.7CM) main Ruby crystal is well exposed and nicely perched on the matrix. Very good color with some purple hues seen in some lighting that indicates that the core of the crystal may be a blue Sapphire. The crystal habit is the rare flattened habit with one overdeveloped face that dominates the prism. In fine condition with excellent esthetics, this also shows the crossing lines of inclusions that cause a star reflection on the terminations.

Fluorite with epitaxial overgrwths on Quartz
stock #AX-14-294
Riemvasmaak, Kakamas district
Northern Cape Province, South Africa
5.4 x 3.8 x 2.6 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $770
new june 17

Intense translucent green Octahedron perfectly set on sharp Quartz crystals. Ata quick glance a fine and attractive piece but the really significant feature is seen on a closer look. All the corners of the Octa have colorless epitaxial caps of Fluorite that is also well crystallized. A textbook perfect and esthetic specimen with incredible form. In undamaged condition and with top color, this was from a small find at Riemvasmaak 3 years ago.

Duftite on Calcite
stock #AX-14-309
Tsumeb
Otjikoto Region, Namibia
9.8 x 7 x 3.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $1400
new june 17

A striking cabinet sized plate of sharp Calcite crystals almost totally encrusted with bright sparkling Duftite micro crystals. In exceptional undamaged condition, Duftite is rare in good display quality specimens but this is a very fine and colorful piece. The individual crystals are more distinct and larger than the more typical Tsumeb smudges. Classic form for the underlying Calcite there is some selective coating noted but overall very little of the white calcite is exposed. Choice.

Amethyst -Siamese twin scepters
stock #17.1-135
Karur
Tamil Nadu, India
2.4 x .8 x .5 CM (thumbnail)
price: $520
Spring 2017

A killer thumbnail of conjoined scepters with amazing form and perfection. The scepter heads have many tiny inclusions that look like rutile but could be lepidocrocite or similar material. The delicate purple color is softly zoned and all is fully transparent. No damage, from recent finds at Karur, we are very active seeking good materials from this locality, it has great potential but produces very few fine pieces like this. Exceptional for the locale or from anyplace. Choice, esthetic and really unusual.
