SOLD Vesuvianite - hot pink cap
stock #SOLD 17.1-499
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos (now Val-des-Sources, Estrie,
Quebec, Canada
2.1 x 1.6 x 1.1 CM (thumbnail)
price: $0
Winter 2016-17

An amazing color crystal from the golden years when the Jeffrey Mine was producing the world's best, and most colorful Vesuvianites. Electric purple-pink termination on a small but lustrous crystal. Contact and breakage on the back and underside but clean on the display side of the piece. This is one of the most rare and desirable colors. For anyone building a suite of Jeffrey Vesuvianites (in all imaginable colors) this intense piece is a must.

Elbaite var. Rubellite with blue-green center stripe
stock #16.1-560
Coronel Murta, Jequitinhonha Valley
Minas Gerais, Brazil
1.9 x .7 x .7 (thumbnail)
price: $380
Winter 2016-17

A super and unusual thumbnail gem crystal with a clear red Rubellite exterior that lets the green-blue inner core be seen like a racing stripe. Choice and better in person, there is a tiny bit of adhering matrix and one small clean contact with no damage. This crystal is also dichroic with a good color shift seen when rotated in front of a light source like a computer screen. Small but with a good display impact far larger than the size!

Apatite-(CaF) prismatic habit elongated hexagon
stock #16.1-655
La Marina Mine, Pauna
Boyaca, Colombia
2.2 x 1 x 1 CM (thumbnail)
price: $380
Winter 2016-17

From the now famed La Marina Mine this is a more rare habit of elongated prism Apatite. Sharp, choice, and with great color, this deposit more typically had flattened equant or stretched tabular forms. From the recent find this is the best example of the form we have seen.

Vesuvianite (deep purple variant)
stock #17.1-502
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos (now Val-des-Sources, Estrie,
Quebec, Canada
2 x 1.4 x 1.4 CM (thumbnail)
price: $300
Winter 2016-17

Small but intense rich purple Vesuvianite with magenta and dark green areas. The color is deeper and more intense than the computer monitor can render well. The luster is glass-like and the specimen clearly has two generations of growth. Some of the smaller crystals show hoppered terminations. The "matrix" is a blocky crystal of Vesuvianite that shows signs of being recrystallized as well. This is the most uncommon color found at Jeffrey and essentially unknown from any other locale.

Vesuvianite (purple and green)
stock #17.1-503
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos (now Val-des-Sources, Estrie,
Quebec, Canada
2.3 x 1.3 x 1.2 CM (thumbnail)
price: $320
Winter 2016-17

Sharp, gem-clear bi-color Vesuvianite crystal from the great Jeffrey Mine. The range of color and habit of Jeffrey Vesuvianites is incredible, they are considered the world's best and quite prized. This is a well-formed thumbnail with fine luster and an unusual color palette.

Fluorapatite - stacked crystal chain
stock #16.1-158
La Marina Mine, Pauna
Boyaca, Colombia
2.1 x .8 x .6 CM (thumbnail)
price: $400
Winter 2016-17

A fine, sharp pink Apatite from the well-known finds at the La Marina Emerald Mine. Delicate transparent to translucent crystals with bright glass-like luster are in a faden-like stack. Small but very pretty and in fine condition.

Pyromorphite (Arsenian color)
stock #AX-29-044
Bunker Hill Mine, Jersey Level, Kellogg, Coeur dAlene District, Shosone
Idaho, United States
2.7 x 2.6 x 2 CM (thumbnail)
price: $440
Winter 2016-17

Sweet and choice wet-look deep orange reddish Pyromorphite from the classic Bunker Hill. Distinct botryoidal crystals with clear faces can be easily seen. In fine condition with great luster the form is a little like a mushroom. Excellent toenail size with fine impact for the size.

Fluorite w. Quartz
stock #AX-32-233
Cantera Llamas, Duyos, Caravia
Asturias, Spain
2.5 x 2.3 x 1.8 CM (thumbnail)
price: $130
Fall 2015

Simple cube of transparent Fluorite with modified edges with a small matrix of Quartz. Pale color and some internal clouding but as seen a nice example of the find at Llamas Quarry in quite good condition. Small natural contacts as seen and a cleave on the bottom where removed that is not seen on display. Better in person too.
