Silver - fine native crystals (herringbone twins)
stock #AX-19-161
New Nevada Mine, Cerro San Antonio, Batopilas
Chihuahua, Mexico
6.2 x 3.7 x 2.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $2850
Winter 2016-17

An extraordinary fine small cabinet specimen with exceptional form from Batopilas. For esthetics and delicacy of crystals, there is no other location like the Batopilas area of Mexico. This piece is very far above average and is in perfect condition. Individual leafy crystals over 3.3 CM tall show many sharp, fine treelike side growths in many habits. Far better in person and offering lots of display impact this is a choice modern classic.

Legrandite
stock #16.1-304
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
5.9 x 3.1 x 2 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $690

Well-exposed vug filled with perfect yellow acicular form Legrandites. Unlike many pieces these are free standing crystals not laying in the matrix. A choice piece with strong esthetics and color. Small globs of greenish Adamite are present as well, this is an older specimen dating back to the earliest finds at Ojuela.

Calcite on Quartz (Amethyst)
stock #16.1-278
Mina Peregrina, Guanajuato
Guanajuato, Mexico
8.4 x 6.4 x 4.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $330
Winter 2016-17

Bright glassy clear crystals of light pink-violet Calcite perched on a contrasting Amethyst matrix. Classic material from Guanajuato, this is quite eye-catching. In excellent condition, there is a single clean repair that is super hard to find, that needs to be mentioned. This keeps the price low yet this displays like it cost far more.

Legrandite
stock #AX-24-140
Mina Ojuela, Level 6, Municipio de Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
6.2 x 5.2 x 5 CM (cabinet)
price: $750
Winter 2016-17

A fine and pretty matrix Legrandite with sharp canary yellow crystals protected in a vug. The condition as seen is excellent and undamaged despite the fragility of this rare mineral. While this could be trimmed to a fine thumbnail the larger matrix seems fine to me as is showing many other vugs and associations adding interest. Choice.

Calcite - optically clear single crystal - ex. W. I. Johansson
stock #15.1-719
Charcas
San Luis Potosi, Mexico
4.5 x 3.1 x 2.2 CM (miniature)
price: $300
Winter 2016-17

Slightly frosted on some faces, sharp, clear and in fine condition, this old specimen is from 1960s vintage finds at Charcas. Selective frosting adds to the visual interest and the form is textbook perfect. The termination shows a nice effect with the selected areas outlining a central hexagon. Nothing quite like these Calcites has since been found.

Pyrite pseudo after Pyrrhotite with Galena and Calcite
stock #AX-10-627
Naica Mine. Naica, Municipio de Saucillo
Chihuahua, Mexico
5.7 x 2.9 x 2.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $320
Fall 2015

An excellent psuedomorph from Naica with bright, lustrous metallic gold and silver hues. The condition is excellent and the esthetics are far better than most. These have occasionally been found in this famed mine, but never very many and none for some years.

Amethyst
stock #AX-2-055
Piedra Parada, Las Vigas
Veracruz, Mexico
8.8 x 4.6 x 5.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $420
Fall 2015

Gem clear, sharp zoned Amethyst crystals in a cluster on a thin matrix sits well for display. A modern classic locale, this is an older specimen of 1970's vintage with a little different look than later finds. Excellent deep purple tips and in fine condition. Veracruz Amethysts are some of the most attractive yet affordable Quartz on the market today. Choice.

SOLD Fluorite on Celestite (gemmy crystals)
stock #SOLD 15.1-868
Tule Mine, Melchor Muzaquiz
Coahuila, Mexico
4.8 x 4.1 x 2.9 CM (miniature)
price: $0
Fall 2015

An exciting new find at a classic old mine, gem clear Fluorites in delicate purple contrast with the bright white Celestite crystals. The Tule Mine was famed for large Celestite with blocky Fluorites that were usually dark and not clear. This find is different, the crystals are smaller but glass-clear and highly lustrous. Affordable yet attractive, undamaged and choice miniature.
